Butterfly Prints
This is a case from the idea book and catalogue. A lot of the products I have used are retitred but this was one of the cards we made for my new favourite charity Angels for the Forgotten If you get the chance please have a look at the link, it's such a marvellous cause. My stamping group had a charity card making day last Saturday and although we only had four ladies we managed to make 200 cards to donate for the foster children. I would like to thank Christine W who helped me prepare all the kits the week before and brought along sausages for a sausage sizzle on the day...thanks Christine I couldn't have done it without you...also thanks so much to Brooke, Katrina (who travelled all the way from NSW to help), my little mate Emily and my daughter Ebony who popped in towards the end to lend a hand..THANKYOU SO SO MUCH!
I would also like to thank all the generous ladies who come to my classes each week...in just under two weeks we have collected four boxes of beautiful supplies for the Angels for the Forgotten...beautiful baby clothes, colouring books, crayons, toiletries...the list goes on...I don't want to take a photo just yet, I will wait till the end of the month to show you all the lovely things...i must also take a picture of all the lovely cards we made..note to self...charge the camera battery
I managed to get a photo of Miss Emily and Katrina before my battery died!

This is one of the cards we will be making on Saturday for our Charity Day. Stampin'Up! kindly donated some lovely supplies so we can make lots of cards for Angels for the Forgotten...I will tell you more about that in a week or so!

Pop Up Birthday Card
This little hippo is so cute ..I love using her on birthday cards... for the front I stamped the balloon from Crazy For Cupcakes and placed the hippo in front of that...she is from Pun Fun....Love that set!
On the inside there are balloons which pop up when you open the card...I just made this by playing around..I am sure there are lots of ways to make cards like this but mine is a regular card scored with a thin spine as you would do when covering a notebook. The pop up piece is cut from another piece of cardstock stuck to the inside. I rolled the bottom of the card with Retro Remix and added a sentiment from Heard from the heart* I would like to thank all the wonderful ladies who attend my classes who very generously donated goods to the flood effort. I dropped them off at the Dream Centre in Carrara and they were very grateful. In all we collected two washing baskets (overflowing) full of toothpastes, toothbrushes, hair brushes, deoderants, shampoos, conditioners, cleaning products, gloves, garbage bags, scrubbing brushes, soap, cloths...the list goes on...hard to believe we achieved that within our small group all in just a couple of days...thankyou all for your kindness..after watching all the footage on TV about the clean up of Brisbane I have to say I am very proud to call myself a Queenslander...the number of volunteers has been astounding, I get a lump in my throat when I see complete strangers helping others...we are all mates after all. I feel so sad for all those who lost family and friends in the floods...there are no words for grief like that

I had to make a card for a male birthday ...something I am not very good at so I went with an owl who has had a few too many beers! The beer mug is from the Cheers to You set which I have watercoloured and added some dazzling Diamonds to the froth...I think I may do a female version next, holding a martini!

Party This Way
October is a busy month for birthdays at my place...My two youngest grand daughters are turning one and four and will be having a Sesame Street themed party on the weekend. I wanted to make them an Elmo card each but my attempt at trying to make original punch art looked naff (don't give up my day job, right?) so I decided to do paper piecing instead..for those of you who have never done paper piecing before it's actually quite easy... I found a free colouring page website (there are dozens, just google it) and downloaded the images I wanted..because they were too large I reduced the size on my copier. I then traced the image onto some vellum cardstock with a 2B pencil. You need to trace each piece seperately eg elmos body, his eyes and his mouth. You then place the vellum pencil side down onto your selected colours of cardstock and gently scibble all over the pencil lines to transfer your pattern. You then just just out your pieces and stick each piece onto black cardstock and trim them again with a fine border of black, then using your picture as a guide assemble all the pieces..your character will be a mirror image if done this way...had I had some dotto (D'OH) it's even simpler...cut each piece from your vellum and use dotto to attach it to your cardstock and cut along the lines. Matting them on the black gives a nice 3D appearance but if you can't be bothered you could always just outline the pieces with a fine tip pen. For this first card I added some balloons from Party This Way and the strings are from the balloon in Crazy For Cupcakes
For the second card I used the greeting from Heard from the Heart and the sign from Party This way...I think Ella and Sophie will love these, they are huge Elmo fans...check back tomorrow, I have to make a card for my daughter Jodie...but she is too old for Elmo!

A bit more punch art
Thought I would share some more of my punch art creations. If you would like to make some of these yourself you can purchase the Zoo Animal tutorial from Paper Punch Addiction
I have had so much fun doing these punch art cards...in my previous obsession (as a scrapbooker) I would spend hours making paper piecings, so this really satisfies my " fiddling about" cravings.

I need a small circle punch so I can give my penguin cheeks next time...he is still cute though
And now for something non punch related..I have always wanted to have a go at a secret panel card but thought it would be too tricky for little old me so I have never attempted it...but I got brave this afternoon and had a go at one...and guess what...they are SO easy!!!!. I have used the Priceless stamp set which was a gift from my upline Angie Brown...HOW NICE IS THAT! It has been on my wish list for a long time so I was thrilled to get it (thankyou Angie!!) I am thinking those swirls will make a pretty Christmas card too...anway this is the outside of the secret panel card...just noticed how badly I muffed that punched edge...I could be arrested by the card making police for that poor effort!
This is the card opened up....
...and this is the secret panel opened up....and another blunder....should have used a different stamp instead of happy birthday again...that's another warrant out for my arrest. I had so much fun making this card I think I will do it as a project at my kids class next week...with some icky bugs perhaps!
If you would like to try one of these just google secret panel card...I did that and found some great you tube videos
I think that's enough creating for one day, I have a kitchen full of dirty dishes and a mountain of washing to fold..yay for me!! Don't forget to check back on teh 24th for the ESAD blog hop!
